There are stone steps into the water. This house is your perfect getaway for vacation or working remotely. Set up your office with a beautiful lake view and our 400 mbps super fast internet. The house is located in a private gated community 10 minutes from New Fairfield Center or Sherman on a private one acre plus lot directly across from state owned land with no other houses on the opposite shoreline. Ours is one of the only roads on the lake where this serene setting exists. This makes it a super quiet location. Another advantage is that the water at our location is crystal clear. The large stone patio area at the water's edge with a private dock and stone staircase makes getting into the water easy. The newly carpeted dock is large for sunbathing, diving or docking your boat. The main floor deck is huge with a large gas grill and lots of seating. The second floor balcony off the master living room has a table and chairs. The third deck is on the upper level with chairs. The spacious house has two main living levels with five bedrooms and a small lookout room on a third level. The main floor has a dramatic cathedral ceiling with large wood beams, fireplace, and track lighting. The second floor features a massive master bedroom suite with private balcony. The formal dining room has seating for 10 people. Also on the main level are three bedrooms. The front queen bedroom has the same amazing view of the lake from two large sets of windows. This room also has a small private half bath. The back double room has two sets of large windows with a wooded view of mature spruce trees and flowering dogwoods and also a side view of the lake. This room has a Smart TV with cable TV service. The back middle bedroom has a queen futon and a desk and can be used as an office or bedroom. The main level large vintage bathroom features a unique enclosed shower/tub area with custom etched herons on the glass surround. This bathroom is shared by two bedrooms. Second Level - Upstairs is the huge master king bedroom suite with its own full sized living room with TV and sitting area. Sliding glass doors leading to a private balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the lake. What a spot for morning coffee! This room is the full width of the house. There is a walk in closet with dressing mirror and plenty of storage. A private entrance from the master leads to the large second level bathroom. This bath also has custom etched glass doors in the tub/shower. The back second level bedroom has two twin beds . There is a full wall of windows with a view of the woods behind the house and the driveway area. The third level - The top level consists of a small Lookout Room accessed via a spiral staircase. This room has large windows on every side and a small sink. A large desk and chair would make a great office area. There is also one twin futon mattress which can be used as a reading area or a single sleeping area. Glass sliding doors lead to a small deck with chairs . Basement level- The huge basement has a full height 8 foot ceiling . There is a Ping Pong room and laundry room plus another full bath with shower. We have some life jackets and kiddie flotation boards for your use but you should bring your own for children. The house is located equally between the town centers of New Fairfield and Sherman, CT. Both towns have grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants. New Fairfield has a large new Stop & Shop and Starbucks, Liquor stores and restaurants. Sherman is a smaller town but it has a nice grocery store and liquor store and the famous American Pie Company Restaurant and Bakery. Try the chicken pot pie. We are less than a mile to Squantz Pond State Park with miles of hiking trails to ridge views and a sandy beach swimming area with life guard. There is a public boat launch across from the park entrance. Take the short drive to quaint New Milford, CT just 15 minutes away. Visit one of the largest antiques/ flea markets in the east , the Elephant's Trunk, where the show Flea Market Flip is filmed. There are many unique shops and restaurants in town. Take a longer scenic drive up to Kent, CT and see the Housatonic River rushing through Bulls Bridge Covered Bridge on the way. Take a short hike on Bulls Bridge National Scenic Trail . In picturesque Kent, CT you will find many shops and antiques as well as good food. Kent Falls State Park has hiking trails and a massive waterfall. Continue a bit further north to drive over the covered bridge at Cornwall Bridge, CT in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. There are many nearby destinations for a perfect day of antiquing and sight seeing.

If you want to hike, you are near the Appalachian Train entrance in Bull's Bridge and Kent, and there's great hiking at several state parks: Lover's Leap, Kent Falls, Mt. Tom, and Macedonia are the closest and most convenient. The local park is Harrybrook, and just down Candlewood Lake Road South is a small park called Dykes Point which gives you a lovely path along the lake. For Memorial Day through Columbus Day (end of May through mid-October, the house is rented by the WEEK ONLY at $2500 per week. A daily price might show up on these dates but the house is indeed only available weekly in summer. However, if you see that a summer week is NOT booked 24-48 hours in advance, feel free to inquire about specific dates within that week (two night minimum) and we will try to accommodate if possible. Important: the house is normally occupied by a cat named Mr. Magoo. He will be off-premises during your visit (unless you WANT to have a sweet cat around during your stay) but anyone with cat allergies should be warned, or bring your own Zyrtek! Some people are sensitive even no matter how well the house is cleaned... House, driveway (parking for one vehicle), deck, hot tub, yard, propane grill, etc. are all yours to enjoy. Beach access, boat slip, and tennis courts are possible with pre-approved monthly rental. Washer and dryer in basement can be made available to guests booking for a week or more (steep stairs, so preapproval is required to use them!). The basement, attic storage, and garage are off limits. While the house is located in a secluded, almost "rural" area of New Milford, it offers modern convenience in that there is plenty of shopping just a few miles away on Route 7 : Walmart, Home Goods, Hope Depot, TJ Maxx, Staples, Peach Wave, etc.). Your best grocery stores are Stop & Shop, Big Y, and Aldi, and you can seek out your favorite libation at Classic Liquors or Nejame package store. If you want to hike, you are near the Appalachian Trail entrance in Bull's Bridge and Kent, and there's great hiking at several state parks: Lover's Leap, Kent Falls, Mt. Tom, and Macedonia are the closest and most convenient. The local park is Harrybrook, and just down Candlewood Lake Road South is a small park called Dykes Point which gives you a lovely path along the lake. This is my HOME, not a primary rental. Some clothes may be in closets, toiletries in cabinets, food in pantry. This home requires that you have GUEST mentality, not a renter's attitude, and guests are expected to respect the home and the owner's personal belongings the same way they would expect someone to treat their own private home. Holiday and "peak season" weekends are priced accordingly. An additional cleaning fee is required for approved pets. Because the house is occasionally occupied by pets, people with allergies to dogs or cats should take note and be warned --this house may not be appropriate for people with allergies. Four bedrooms and a media/guest room allow for comfortable sleeping for up to ten individuals. The large living room, with cathedral ceilings, large fireplace and upright piano provides a relaxing source of endless entertainment. The media/guest room, located at the end of the spiral staircase, is equipped with DVD and VHS libraries and players, cable television and wireless internet throughout the house. The master bedroom on the main floor has a king-size Sleep Number bed and an en suite master bathroom with multiple shower nozzles and steam shower. Two more bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and one with twin bunk beds, are located on the main floor. The main bath has a relaxing jet tub that's also fun for kids. The kitchen is stocked with all of the basic appliances and supplies for cooking and dining. A fourth bedroom with queen bed is in the finished basement along with a half bath and a washing machine and dryer. The expansive deck is great for grilling and soaking in the hot tub. All bed linens and towels are included with your stay. Wifi is included. My home is on the top of a ridge overlooking the lake on a dead end road. The house is not lakefront, however, it is a 2-minute drive to the clubhouse beach. This home is one the most private homes on the whole Island. The house features everything you could ever want to do for your vacation, even if it rains the home offers plenty of features to keep you occupied. You can even still have an outside BBQ with our covered huge patio under the deck. There is a pool table, ping pong table, 3 bars (2 inside) (one outside) a movie theatre that converts to a disco, a music studio, for those that don't play an instrument there is a professional Karaoke system that provides hours of fun. The home has two wood burning fireplaces, a 1,100 sq foot deck with two top of the line Weber grills & smoker. There is a nice size flat yard as well as a fire pit and patio/bar in the back with a bluetooth audio system The home has 5 TV's as well as audio systems throughout the home inside and out. It also has a brand new hot tub that sits 7 people on the deck overlooking the lake. NOTE: The home is built as 6 bedrooms, however two of those rooms have been turned into a theatre and the other the music studio. The Harlem line is always a direct train out of grand central station in Manhattan. The Danbury line is either direct (during return rush hour, for example) or requires one transfer, in South Norfolk. The house uses a septic tank system, so significant water usage and long showers are discouraged. Please be aware that the home is protected externally by the Ring camera system. A separate contract, stressing the house rules, must be signed before entering the premises.
